Tips: What are locking pliers?
The locking pliers, or vise grips, is mainly used to clamp and fix the parts for riveting, welding, grinding and other processing. Its features are that the pliers can be locked and produce a large clamping force, so that the clamped parts will not loose. Moreover, the clamp mouth has many adjustable positions for clamping parts of different thickness, and it can also be used as a wrench.
The locking pliers mainly uses the lever principle, and belong to a manual tool of lever enhancement. The key of its work is to obtain several times of force enhancement from the perspective of force decomposition when the angle of a group of jacking bars is relatively large. Compared with other hand tools that use the lever principle, the locking pliers apply the lever principle twice, so it saves effort. There is an adjustable screw attached to the vice grip, which can adjust the opening of the pliers' jaw, so as to adjust the opening of the pliers' jaw to the appropriate size, and then close it.
Locking pliers have many different configurations, such as needle-nose locking pliers, locking wrenches, C-clamp locking pliers and various shapes.
