Air impact wrench, also known as ratchet wrench and power tool in general, is mainly a tool that provides high torque output with minimal consumption. It accelerates an object with a certain mass by a continuous power source and then instantly slams into the output shaft, so that a relatively large torque output can be obtained.

Compressed air is the most common power source, but there are also those that use electric or hydraulic power, and the use of batteries has become doubly popular in recent years.
Impact wrenches are widely used in many industries, such as coal mines, auto repair, heavy equipment repair, etc., product assembly (often called "pulse tools" and designed for precise torque output), major construction projects, and any other place where high torque output is needed. So we need to test their quality in our work.
In order to have a measure of the quality of impact wrenches and to measure the torque of the factory impact wrenches, we carried out a research on the topic of "torque detection device of impact wrenches" under the guidance of our teacher, because the impact wrenches are a combination of pneumatic drive source plus gear box, using pneumatic pressure to drive the gear box to achieve the purpose of locking the bolts. Therefore, we need a device that can change the energy of this torque into another way to show it, and it can be read easily. This can be done with a hydraulic gauge, where we use the drive threads to convert the torque into a hydraulic value, which is then measured by a hydraulic gauge to get the desired result.

Air impact wrench is a kind of torque wrench with high-pressure air pump as the power source. It is driven by one or two powerful air motors to drive a torque multiplier with three or more turnover gears. The torque is controlled by adjusting the gas pressure. To allow for specific torque settings, each tool is equipped with a special air pressure first against torque comparison chart and calibration report.
